Recycling can help to protect the environment, by reducing the need for primary extraction (mining, quarrying and logging), or lowering the greenhouse gas emission from secondary processing, or reducing landfill pollution etc...
The ultimate goal of this project is to create a smart trash sorting bin, which can be used in home, work office or even on the street.
How it works so far...
After placing the trash onto the sorting arm, the camera will detect whether it's a recyclable or non-recyclable object and throw it into the relevant bin. For instance, the picture on the left shows the arm is putting the metal can into the recyclable bin.
The current cardboard model uses Arduino mega, color sensor, and servo motor for demonstration purposes.
